The government has announced the launch of a “its meter reading” scheme to solve the power over -billing problem.
A meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Energy (Power) was held, in which Member Rana Mohammad Hayat raised the question whether power tariffs will be reduced further in the next financial year, to which Chairman NEPRA replied that the electricity rate is likely to remain the same.
Rana Mohammad Hayat said that the industrial sector has been given 30 % relief while no relief has been given to the agricultural sector, on which the Secretary Power Division said that the industrial sector was achieved due to the removal of relief cross subsidy. A comprehensive plan is being made for the power sector.
During the meeting, Raja Qamar -ul -Salam said that the meeting was from the Power Committee but I received minutes of the Petroleum Division.
