
Syria Civil War: Even after the fall of Bashar-al-Assad’s government in Syria, the hatred of the rebels has not diminished. On Wednesday (December 11, 2024), the tomb of Hafez al-Assad, father of Bashar al-Assad, was set on fire by the rebels. Its pictures are also going viral on social media, in which some rebels are seen standing on the burning coffin. Hafez al-Assad’s tomb was built in the western Syrian province of Latakia.
What is happening in Syria after the end of the five-decade-long rule of Bashar al-Assad’s family.
1- According to news agency AFP, the tomb of Hafez al-Assad, father of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, was set on fire by rebels in his hometown Kardaha on Wednesday.
2- The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said rebels set fire to and damaged parts of a mausoleum located in the Latakia stronghold of Assad’s Alawite community.
3- Several mausoleums have been built in a large structure on top of a hill in the Latakia Citadel, which also contains the tombs of other members of the Assad family. These also include the grave of Bashar’s brother Bassel, who died in a road accident in 1994. Preparations were being made to put Bassel to power.
4- Last Sunday, the city of Damascus was captured by the rebels in Syria, after which Bashar al-Assad was forced to flee the country and the rule of more than 50 years of the Assad family came to an end.
5- Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al Jalali says he is ready to cooperate with the opposition and hand over governance.
6- Leader Abu Mohammed al-Golani, who leads the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, said that the new regime will not forgive those who tortured detainees and were involved in their murder.
7- The Assad family, who fled the country before the rebels captured Damascus, has taken refuge in Russia.
