Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that economic development depends on political stability and establishment of peace, we cannot move forward without crushing the terrorists.
He said this while presiding over the apex committee meeting of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, top civil and military officials, four Chief Ministers, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and federal ministers participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, giving special facilities to investors and other matters related to investment were discussed.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said that this year will prove to be a promising year for Pakistan’s economic development. Today, inflation in Pakistan is at its lowest level since 2018. Reserves have increased from four billion dollars to twelve and a half billion dollars.
He said that the interest rate of banks has come down from 22% to 13%, if we talk about the real inflation, the State Bank has the scope to reduce the interest rate by eight points, the stock exchange is the highest in history. At the highest level, all these indicators are clear evidence that this year will be very helpful in the development of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that there is no doubt that the government faced external and internal disturbances in the last nine and a half months. , half a billion dollars is also coming from sugar export, we had surplus sugar which we exported because smuggling stopped and sugar was available in abundance, oil smuggling also reduced.
He said that we have an opportunity that the Central Asian countries are willing to invest with us, MoUs have been signed with various countries, economic stability is connected with political stability, if there is political stability then there will be economic stability. Now, if we want to move towards economic growth, we have to reduce electricity prices along with political stability, if we want to increase tax revenue, we have to make efforts. Rent, Chairman F BR Rashid Langridian is an able officer, due to his efforts, the handling at Karachi port has been speeded up, the backlog has been solved to a great extent.
He further said that economic development depends on peace in the country, security is a challenge for us at this time, unfortunately the Afghan government left many people, we cannot move forward without crushing the terrorists. Security agencies are sacrificing their lives for this, every day there is an incident and people are martyred, we all have to unite against it.
He congratulated everyone on the agreement reached in Para Chinar and said that it is regrettable that hundreds of people were killed on both sides, it should not have happened.
