
President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the highest civil award on King Abdullah of Ardab.
According to Express News, President Asif Ali Zardari and King Abdullah II had a meeting in which the President awarded King II of Jordan with Pakistan’s highest civilian award.
The King of Jordan awarded President Asif Ali Zardari with the “Wissam al-Nahdah al-Mursa” (Order of the Renaissance), which is awarded to heads of state and dignitaries.
Senior civil and military officials including Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and Admiral Naveed Ashraf and members of the federal cabinet were also present in the ceremony.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari met with King Abdullah II at the President’s House in Hawaii, in which First Lady Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Senator Sherry Rehman participated.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Senator Mossadegh Malik, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassadors of Pakistan and Jordan were also present in the meeting.
President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan and Jordan’s determination to further strengthen the long-standing, brotherly ties, while the two leaders agreed to expand bilateral cooperation to new areas.
The President reiterated his commitment to close cooperation with Jordan, while the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East and reiterated their joint support for peace and stability in the region.
The President and King Abdullah II emphasized the establishment of a free, independent and viable Palestinian state under the two-state solution.
