The official retail price of chicken eggs is fixed at Rs 313 per dozen, but the eggs are being sold at an unofficial price of Rs 360 to 380 per dozen.
On the other hand, chicken sellers say that poultry farms are taking advantage of the increase in the balance of demand and supply and the prices are being increased day by day.
Poultry farms supply at arbitrary prices on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays and on normal days the price is reduced by 30-40 rupees per kg. According to consumers, wholesalers rule the city, traders are fixing the prices of food items and the city administration is a silent spectator.
