Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Chief Justice Yahya Afridi in the Chief Justice House and requested the decisions on merit in tax cases soon. The Chief Justice sought suggestions from the Prime Minister to improve the justice system.
According to Express News, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi at the Chief Justice House, the Prime Minister congratulated the Chief Justice on taking over his responsibilities and expressed his best wishes.
The Prime Minister appreciated the Chief Justice’s move to visit remote areas of southern Punjab, Inner Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and to consult all stakeholders to provide effective and timely justice in the country.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also discussed the economic situation of the country and the economic and security challenges.
The Prime Minister briefed the long -term tax dispute in various courts of the country. The Prime Minister requested the Chief Justice to make decisions soon on merit in these cases.
The Chief Justice also sought suggestions from the Prime Minister to improve the justice system. On this occasion, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi welcomed the Prime Minister’s conversation for the betterment of justice.
The Prime Minister also assured the Chief Justice to accelerate effective measures regarding the missing persons.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Law and Justice Nazir Tarad, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Registrar Supreme Court Mohammad Saleem Khan, Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan Tanzila Sabhat.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a statement regarding the meeting of the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice, stating that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met on the invitation of the Chief Justice.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister’s meeting is part of the Chief Justice’s Reform’s Agenda.
Talking to the Prime Minister during the meeting, the Chief Justice said that the opposition will also take confidence in judicial policy -making, will also take suggestions from the opposition so that the reforms are ineffective and sustainable.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Law Minister and Advisor Ahmed Cheema. Registrar Supreme Court and Secretary Law and Justice Commission also attended the meeting.
