The United States has tightened economic sanctions on Iran, accusing it of using the proceeds of illegal oil sales for its nuclear program.
According to the World News Agency, the United States has imposed sanctions on 35 institutions, sectors and personalities of Iran with immediate effect.
The purpose of these latest US sanctions is to keep Iran away from the international oil market.
In a statement issued by the US Treasury Department, it is said that Iran did not take into account the sanctions imposed on October 11 and continued to violate them.
The statement alleges that despite the previous sanctions, Iran is still selling its oil and spending the proceeds on its nuclear program and unmanned drones.
US Acting Deputy Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bradley Smith said that the US is determined to thwart illicit activities and efforts to create a ‘shadow fleet’ of boats.
Bradley Smith added that he will use every possible method and full authority to stop Iran’s negative activities.
