New Delhi: India’s leading Muslim journalist Arifa Khanam Sherwani is facing severe harassment, threats and pornographic messages by Hindu extremists for taking anti -war and peaceful position.
Arifa Khanum, a senior editor and award -winning journalist of The Wire, is being declared as enemies and traitors only because he has conveyed a message of peace on the recent Pak -India tension and opposed the war.
Mohammed Zubair, co -founder of the Fact Checking Agency, Alt News, says this is not a accidental campaign, but rather a systematic target of Muslim journalists through a social media account called “Hindutva Knight”. This account has already been a hateful campaign on several Muslim journalists.
Indian police and the government have not yet reacted to the threats received by Arifa Khanam. According to critics, the silence of the government itself encourages such campaigns, which causes severe panic among not only Muslim journalists but also minorities.
The whole scenario has come when the Indian media and the government are in turmoil after Pakistan’s successful defensive ‘vest,’ vests’, and are trying to silence peaceful voices to hide their failure.
