Transgender Persons Act: Senate physique forwards draft amendments to CII

ISLAMABAD: The Senate physique on human rights forwarded draft amendments within the Transgender Persons Act to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), ARY News reported on Friday.

The draft amendments offered by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan have been forwarded to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) by the Senate physique on human rights.

The Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights acknowledged that an opinion was sought from the CII concerning the amendments as some provisions of the transgender invoice have been declared to be in contradiction with the Islamic ideas of heredity.


The Senate physique clarified that no legislation could possibly be handed in violation of the Islamic ideas. The committee will even ship different amendments concerning the transgender invoice to the CII.

Earlier, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) had filed a petition within the Federal Shariat Court towards the Transgender Rights Bill 2018, claiming it’s in contradiction with the Islamic ideas of heredity.

The JI chief had argued that the invoice would trigger issues in Islamic heredity rules.

The petition, filed by the JI senator, could be persecuted by Lawyer Imran Shafique Advocate. Senate’s Human Rights Committee had debated the invoice in its September 5 session.


In the session, the JI chief steered that if somebody information a gender change request in NADRA, they need to endure a medical check first. The invoice has given people the correct to vary their gender identification, 30,000 individuals have utilized to NADRA to vary their gender, the JI senator stated.
