America stopped aid to Bangladesh:The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has ordered a halt to all its aid and projects in Bangladesh. This decision is being considered as a big blow for the Yunus government of Bangladesh.
This is the first major step after Trump coming to power, due to which the aid received by Bangladesh for development works will be stopped. In its decision, USAID has banned all types of work orders, contracts and procurement processes. USAID has been providing large-scale assistance in Bangladesh in areas such as health, education, agriculture and economic reforms. This decision can disrupt many important projects going on there.
USAID issued letter
USAID, in its letter on the funding suspension, cited US President Donald Trump’s recent executive order, saying, “This letter is directing all USAID/Bangladesh implementing partners to ensure that your USAID/Bangladesh contracts, task orders, grants, cooperative “Immediately discontinue or suspend any work under the Agreement, or other assistance or acquisition instrument.”
