Explosive Factory Blast in Turkey : According to Reuters, Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, ‘There was a massive explosion in an explosives factory in the north-western region of Turkey on Tuesday (December 24). About 12 people have been killed and 4 have been seriously injured in this blast. He said, ‘Investigation has been started in the matter.’

CNN Turk has shared pictures of fire and smoke rising from the factory at the time of the explosion. At the same time, in a video, the structure of the factory was seen scattered after it collapsed after the explosion.

Explosion in Kavakli village of Balikesir province of Türkiye

According to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, the explosion occurred in the morning of Tuesday (December 23) at a military explosives factory located in Kavakli village in Balıkesir province of northwestern Turkey. CNN Turk quoted the local governor as saying that there is no suspicion of any foul play in the incident.

Health and safety personnel sent after the explosion

Türkiye’s Government Communications Directorate said that after a massive explosion in the factory, several fire brigade teams and security personnel were sent to the spot to extinguish the fire. At the same time, investigation has also been started in the matter.

According to CNN Turk report, authorities have started an investigation to confirm how many people were in the factory building at the time of the explosion.

Turkish President expressed condolences

After the blast in an explosives factory in Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed condolences to those killed in the accident on the social media platform X. He said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of our 12 brothers. My condolences are with Balikesir and the countrymen.”

He further said, “I pray to God that the souls of my deceased brothers rest in peace. I express my condolences to their families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

At the same time, Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç said on Twitter, ‘A committee of experts has been formed to find out the cause of the explosion in the factory. In which chemical, mechanical, occupational safety and geophysical engineers have been included.
