US officials have developed new economic sanctions on Russia aimed at pressureing Russia to end the Ukraine War. The restrictions include banking and energy sectors, which will be aimed at Russian state company Gaz Prom and other major institutions.
According to sources, US President Donald Trump will finalize the sanctions. Although Trump initially adopted a gentle attitude with Russia, his position is getting tightened after President Putin’s continued refusal of ceasefire and talks.
The US National Security Council is busy preparing for these measures, but says details of the ongoing talks cannot be commented on.
New sanctions were under consideration when a mineral agreement was signed between the United States and Ukraine on Wednesday, which Trump called a part of his peace plan. If Trump approved the sanctions, it would be a sign of a clear rigor in the US position against Russia.
