Scientists in Japan have recently created an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic that Microplastics can dissolve in the ocean within a few hours without leaving a trace.
Currently available recyclable plastics do not dissolve in water, while some plastic waste can take more than 500 years to decompose.
In comparison, a new alternative created by scientists at Ryken University dissolves in just a few hours when in saline water and in 10 days when in soil. Experiments have shown that it also forms fertilizer-like chemicals as it dissolves in the soil.
“With this new material, we have created a new family of plastics that are strong, stable, reusable, versatile, and most Importantly, it does not contain microplastics.
