Manmohan Singh Death: The whole world was saddened by the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and everyone paid their tribute to him. However, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif did not express any grief, due to which he is being condemned in his own country. People are even alleging that perhaps Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif did not want to upset PM Modi, hence they did not express their grief.
Condolence messages came from all over the world on the death of Manmohan Singh. However, neither Shehbaz Sharif nor his elder brother Nawaz Sharif (who has been Prime Minister thrice) reacted to the incident. In contrast, only Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed condolences.
Condolences on the death of Jimmy Carter
Shehbaz Sharif and other Pakistani officials immediately expressed condolences on the demise of former US President Jimmy Carter. He shared condolence messages on social media platform X. The same platform has been banned by the Shehbaz Sharif government to control the social media campaigns of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Michael Kugelman, director of the Wilson Center South Asia Institute, expressed grief over the demise of Manmohan Singh. The situation of not doing so was described as surprising. He said that Manmohan Singh and Sharif brothers were contemporaries. Their economic outlook was similar. Both were keen to improve India-Pakistan relations.” Kugelman further said that “The Sharif brothers may want to avoid angering Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but there is no such risk in saying anything about Manmohan Singh. This decision is a bit strange.

Pakistani writer and military affairs expert Ayesha Siddiqa sarcastically said that it seems the Sharif brothers do not want to upset Modi. Perhaps they believe that what is gone is gone. Pakistani journalist Ammara Ahmed termed this decision as poor. He said that the lack of diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan can be understood from this incident.
