Chief Minister Punjab Nawaz Sharif issued a message on the occasion of World Anti -Islamophobia Day, saying that discrimination, hatred and prejudice facing Muslims around the world are condemnable. He said that Pakistan raised the voice of Muslims by presenting a resolution against Islamophobia in the UN General Assembly, which is a commendable step.
In his statement, the Chief Minister said that Islam is a religion of mercy which teaches peace, love, tolerance and human dignity, but unfortunately propaganda against Islam and Muslims is growing rapidly. He described Islamophobia as a serious threat to world peace and interfaith harmony and said that every possible effort to end it should be appreciated.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif called on the UN and other global organizations to take effective and sure steps against hateful attitudes. He said that the nations should ensure the protection of Muslims’ lives, rights and dignity in Kashmir, Palestine and other regions.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government was taking every possible step to promote religious harmony and respect for minorities. He reiterated that a Punjab would be formed where every religion and profession had equal rights and honor.
He emphasized that the world needs to be exposed to the true identity of Islam so that the effects of Islamophobia can be eliminated. He said that it is necessary to raise a voice against all kinds of hatred and everyone has to play their role for sustainable world peace.
